Rugby World Cup 2027: choose matches and host cities

The Australian tournament runs from 1 October to 13 November 2027. Plan around individual matches and stadiums rather than a booking for the whole tournament.

An expanded format

World Rugby announces 24 teams, six pools of four and 52 matches, including a round of 16. Do not assume a knockout fixture’s teams before confirmation; they depend on earlier results.

Seven cities, eight stadiums

The announced hosts are Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Newcastle, Perth, Sydney and Townsville. Sydney uses Stadium Australia and Sydney Football Stadium. A Sydney hotel does not necessarily place you near your match’s stadium.

Opening and final: different journeys

The opening is announced at Perth Stadium on 1 October and the final at Stadium Australia on 13 November. For several cities, check travel, overnight accommodation and the next match’s local time. Leave a buffer between arrival and ticket screening.
